Program for Mortuary Schools Waives Design Fee

Incline Village, NV___Duncan Stuart Todd, Ltd, the Preparation Room Specialists, announces a program designed to benefit mortuary schools and colleges with funeral service curriculums. A criterion for accreditation by the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABSFE) goes into effect with fall semester 2010, requiring schools “to maintain an on-campus embalming preparation space either fully functional or for demonstration purposes”. A special School Premier Source Program for renovating or building a new embalming lab in educational environments is offered without the fee that is otherwise charged for commercial installations. The plan for an OSHA compliant embalming lab calls for architectural design of the space, ventilating system, custom cabinetry and a full complement of foot-end equipment with safeguards for health and safety in the preparation room. DST Introduces PrepArm for Localized Air Extraction

Incline Village, NV___Duncan Stuart Todd, Ltd., the Preparation Room Specialists, introduces PrepArm, a system for exhausting noxious fumes at the source in the preparation room. PrepArm has a flexible extractor arm with an attached transparent hood fitted with a LED light strip. It can be mounted from the ceiling or the wall and is standard in single or double configurations. Custom configurations are also available.

PrepArm is maneuverable much like the overhead light in a dental office. The two outermost joints in the arm rotate and swivel through 360 degrees. This unique flexibility makes it possible for the embalmer to locate the hood exactly where it is required. By capturing fumes at the source, PrepArm can prevent many airborne particles from entering the embalmer’s respiratory system. The hood also protects the embalmer from splatters or chemical bursts.

Stacey Plate Joins DST

Incline Village, NV___ Duncan Stuart Todd, Ltd., the Preparation Room Specialists, announces an addition to the company’s organization. Stacey Plate, a native of Chicago, IL, is named to the position of administrative assistant to work with clients and oversee internal operations.

Prior to joining DST, Ms. Plate was senior administrative assistant to officers of Children’s Memorial Hospital and The Siragusa Foundation, both in Chicago.

She holds a B.A. degree in English, an M.A. in Religious Studies and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in psychology where her course has involved concepts in death and dying. NFDA PRODUCT COMPETITION

Boston, MA___Duncan Stuart Todd, Ltd., the Preparation Room Specialists, was awarded first place in an Innovation Awards competition as a part of the NFDA International Convention and Expo in Boston, October 25 to 28. In its first sponsored competition, the association named the Todd Trocar Well, adapted for wall mounting, as its top winner.

The Todd Trocar Well is a system for disinfecting and sterilizing trocars. Accepting the trophy in a ceremony at the convention were Marjori and Duncan Todd.

Attendees visiting the DST booth at the show were able to view the product which offers funeral directors an alternative method of installation. The original product is designed for mounting in a countertop. In response to market needs, the wall mount version was developed by DST. This version is particularly suitable for renovation projects when existing conditions don’t permit countertop installation.

Todd Morgue Table Receptor 8000

Incline Village, NV___The “8000”, a new version of the innovative Todd Morgue Table Receptor 5000 system, is now available in a limited edition from Duncan Stuart Todd, Ltd. The Todd MTRs are a rinsing rim direct drain system for waste removal at the foot-end of the table.

Functionally equivalent to the original model, the 8000 series was developed in response to market need for a product with a price point lower than top-of-the-line 5000. The 8000 version differs only in the material used for the unit’s lower shroud.

The three-sided base shroud is manufactured from cold rolled steel, with textured black powder-coat finish. The top of the unit is composed of 16-gauge stainless steel finish.
